Q– What is the program?
A– Free admission to 15 museums/art centers ranging from the Guggenheim in Manhattan to the Stamford Museum and Nature Center in Stamford, CT.
Q– How is the Museum Pass Program funded? Who makes it happen?
A– Through the generosity of our Friends of the Larchmont Library. They’re the best!
Q– Who can use the program?
A– Any adult Larchmont Public Library cardholder in good standing i.e. with no lost items and aggregate fines under $10.
Q– How do I reserve a pass?
A– Book online, call the Information Desk at (914) 834-2281, extension #3 or stop by the desk in person.
Q – When do I get the pass?
A – You can pick your pass up the day you booked it, and the pass will be due on the 3rd day. So if you booked it on May 3rd it will be due on May 5th. If the library is closed on the due date the pass will be due 1 day later. (this usually applies to holidays and summer Sundays).
Q– How far in advance can I reserve a museum visit?
A– 45 Days.
Q– Why don’t you have a pass to the Met Museum or Morgan Library or Bronx Zoo?
A– Not every museum/center participates in programs such as ours. Others are prohibitively expensive.
Q– Once I reserve a pass, what do I do next?
A– Visit the Information Desk and the librarian will give you your pass.
Q– Who can pick up the pass from the Library?
A– Ideally, the person who made the reservation will bring the printed confirmation page and their library card to pick up the pass. If someone other than the person who made the reservation comes to pick up the pass, they must have the library card used to make the reservation. No matter who picks up the pass, though, the person who made the reservation is responsible for its timely return.
Q– How many people can use each pass?
A– This varies from Museum to Museum, click “learn more,” below each museum on the museum pass page to find out.
Q– How do I cancel or change a reservation?
A– Within 24 hours of your visit, you need to call Reference (914-834-2281 ext#3) or email us at larchmontlibrary@larchmontlibrary.org. Note: it is important that you cancel because an open reservation blocks out a pass for up to three days.
Q –What do I do with the pass after my visit?
A– Bring the pass, in its plastic case, back to the Reference Desk. Do not put it in the book drop.
Q –What happens if I return a pass late?
A– You will be charged $10 for each day overdue. After five days you will be charged the replacement cost of the pass, which could be up to $500 plus a $25 fee.
Q –Can I return the pass in the book drop?
A– No. You will be charged $10 if you do. The books in the drop are often a jumbled mess. We are worried a pass might disappear or be crushed.
Q -I lost the pass. Now what?
A– We will charge you for a replacement pass plus a $25 fee. The replacement cost varies from museum to museum but can be as high as $500.
