A New Book Group is now offered at the Library!

Banned Book Group with Liam Hegarty

What do Lawn BoyThe Hate U Give and Huckleberry Finn have in common? These are the books for the Library’s Banned Books Book Group, led by Librarian Liam Hegarty. This is the first in our series of “Pop-up Book Groups” which are three-month groups focusing on a particular topic or genre led by varying staff members.

Tuesday’s September 19th, October 17th at November 11th at 7:00pm in The Michael P. Coords Activity Room.

This month, September 19th at 7 pm, the book group will discuss Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison

On October 17th at 7 pm : The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

On November 11th at 7 pm : The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Books are available 3 week before each meeting date.  Sign up is not required.

Here are some other Book Clubs the Library Offers

Short and Sweet with Alex Gaete on Zoom or in person in the Village Center

The Short & Sweet book group meets on the second Thursday of every month at 10AM in The Village Center. All of the books selected for our meetings do not exceed 250 pages- we keep it short!  This month the book group will discuss Last Night at the Lobster by Stewart O’Nan.

The Ileen Gottesfeld Book Group in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room.
Meets in the Fall and Spring at 10 am. A discussion of 3-4 books with a former English teacher based on a different theme each season. This month the group will discuss The Engineer’s Wife based on the theme “New York, New York.”

Once Upon a Crime with Caroline Cunningham on Zoom or in person in the Village Center

Once Upon a Crime features books about true crime and meets the 1st Thursday of each month at 7pm in the Village Center. In October the book group will discuss Rogues: True Stories of Grifters, Killers, Rebels and Crooks by Patrick Radden Keefe.

Frank Conversations “Sherlock Holmes” on Zoom

Frank Conversations Meets on the 1st Monday of each month at 10 am to discuss Sherlock Holmes story.  In October the group will discuss The Adventure of the Priority School.
