Banned Books Week 2025 is scheduled for October 5–11. The theme is “Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights.”
This annual event, founded in 1982, aims to highlight the dangers of censorship and celebrate the freedom to read, especially in light of rising book challenges in libraries and schools. Organizations like the American Library Association (ALA), PEN America, and The New York Public Library are encouraging people to get involved through events, special displays, and by advocating for intellectual freedom.
Every month we have different displays highlighting seasonal themes.
Check out our display for Banned books this month, in the main floor and check out a book that has been challenged over the years.
