Minutes of Meeting
December 9, 2015
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on, 2015 at 6:45 p.m., attended by Board Chair Pamela Dubitsky (PD), Trustees Jennifer Conley (JC), Lauren Gottfried (LG), Maureen LeBlanc (ML), Barbara Liptack (BL), John McGarr (JM), and Iven Taub (IT,) Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Abby Katz (AK), Friends of the Larchmont Public Library liaison Sophia Bernstein (SB), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE) and Assistant Director June Hesler (JH). Village Liaison Marlene Kolbert was absent .
Board Chair PD called the meeting to order at 6:49 p.m.
The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Minutes of the Board Meeting of November 18, 2015.
Friends of the Larchmont Public Library Liaison Report
SB reported the two recent Friends programs, three authors speaking about cocktails and Jon Birger discussing his book Date-onomics, were well attended. LE reported the annual appeal was mailed and many responses have been received.
Committee Reports
Finance and Budget Committee
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Schedule of Bills dated 12/4/15 and 12/9/15. The Board received the Performance Report dated 12/4/15. JM reported on the draft library budget for FY2016/17 and that the meeting with the VOL will be held in early February.
Building and Grounds
Windows: LE reported SGH has been making site visits and overseeing the installation of the first bank of windows which are not completely installed in the Village Center vestibule. LE further reported that the sealants will have to cure for one week before water testing can be conducted.
Transformation: PD reported she has signed the contract with MVM Construction. PD further reported that construction will begin on January 4, 2016 with expected completion by mid-summer. In addition PD reported that a fund raising post card was mailed to the community and a letter from the Board had been submitted to local media. LE reported that follow up letters had been sent to those who had made pledges. LE thanked the library staff for their tremendous and collaborative effort with the transition to the Village Center.
Director’s Report
LE reported that, along with Sue Riley of Mamaroneck Public Library, she appeared on LMC-TV to discuss holiday books. LE also reported that plans continue for the One Community Read in April 2016 and Teen Librarian Kim Larsen had recently held a terrific teen sewing program sponsored by a grant from WLS.
Board Chair Dubitsky adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board will be held on January 14, 2016.
