The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on February 12, 2020, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Board Trustees Jennifer Conley (JC), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Casey Halliley (CH), Barbara Liptack (BL), John McGarr (JM), Linnet Tse (LT), Village of Larchmont Liaison Sarah Bauer (SB), Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Jeffery King (JK), Friends of the Library Liaison Celeste Sharpe (CS), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), Library Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH), and Staff Assistant D J Brucciani (DB).
Board Chair Lauren Gottfried called the meeting to order at 6:45pm.
Board Meeting Minutes
The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Minutes of the Library Board Meeting of January 8, 2020.
Friends
CS reported that the Friends Third Annual Mini Golf Fundraiser had been successful and well attended. CS further reported that the Friends will hold their 8th Annual Spelling Bee in March. LG thanked the Friends for their creative programs and hard work.
Committee Reports
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Schedule of Bills and the Additional List of Bills dated 2/6/20 & 2/11/20. The Board reviewed and accepted the Performance Report dated 2/5/20.
LG reported that she, JM and LE met with VOL Mayor Walsh and Trustee Sarah Bauer to review the Library’s FY20/21 draft budget on 1/16/20 and that the Library’s proposed budget for FY20/21 was presented to the VOL/TOM at their annual joint budget meeting on 2/3/20.
Building and Grounds
The Board reviewed the roof report by consultant Rick Watsky and discussed the timeline and funding for the replacement of the rear section of the roof. The Board directed LE to obtain proposals for Construction Management of the project.
LE reported that Library HVAC service provider Atlantic Westchester successfully replaced the PC that operates the HVAC BMS software. LE further reported that the Library is now subscribed to SWCT Weather Service which provides schools and libraries with detailed weather forecast information and makes recommendations regarding closures.
Director’s Report
LE reported that MLS candidate Melissa Victoria started her internship in mid-January and will be working every Monday, spending time in each department through May 2020. LE further reported that Program Librarian June Hesler received a NYS humanities Grant to fund a spring 2020 book discussion series. LE reported on planned Census activities for the Library.
Board Chair Gottfried adjourned the meeting at 7:25pm. The next scheduled Board Meeting will be held on March 11, 2020 at 6:45pm.
