Minutes of Meeting

March 10, 2015

The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on March 10, 2015 at  6:15 p.m., attended by Board Chair Pamela Dubitsky (PD), Trustees Jennifer Conley (JC), Barbara Liptak (BL), John McGarr (JM), and Iven Taub (IT,) Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Abby Katz (AK),  Library Director Laura Eckley (LE) and Assistant Director June Hesler (JH). Trustees Lauren Gottfried and Maureen LeBlanc, Village Liaison Marlene Kolbert and Friends of the Library Liaison Wendy Raso were not in attendance.
Board Chair PD called the meeting to order at 6:24 p.m.
The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Minutes of the Board Meeting of February 11, 2015.

Friends of the Larchmont Public Library Liaison Report

LE reported Brickfest had over 1000 people in attendance and netted over $6,000. This year’s Teen event was a great success. LE commented that Brickfest attracts visitors from all over the county and beyond.  The Spelling Bee is scheduled for 4/19 and planning is well under way.  Teams are still being put together.  PD thanked the Friends for their hard work and wonderful programming.

Committee Reports

Budget & Finance Committee

Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Schedule of Bills dated 3/3/15 and 3/10/15. The Board received the Performance Report dated 3/3/15.

Transformation Committee

PD reported that the fundraising committee has met 55% of the goal and has additional events planned in March and April. Construction Documents are nearing completion.

Director’s Report

Rebecca Teglas visited the elementary schools during her Winter Blues Tour promoting reading as well as the programs for February break. Marca McClenon attended a WLS workshop on Environmental Programming will be applying for a WLS mini grant to fund an environmental program for children this summer. MM is also applying for a grant from the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation to fund an art program this summer with Wendy Popp. The Library’s 2014 utility bills have been summited to Solarize to determine savings versus cost of installing solar panels. LE, RT and the Brown family met with Catherine Wachs to further discuss the design of a Children’s Garden planned in memory of Ryder Brown. PD and LE will appear on LMC-TV’s Local Live in April to discuss the Transformation Project. Teen Librarian Kim Larsen attended a WLS workshop on Mental Health First Aid for Teens.

Additional Items

LE discussed the NYS Non-Profit Revitalization Act of 2013. The act requires that whistleblower and conflict of interest policies by adopted by the Library. IT and LE will work to complete these by the end of the fiscal year. LE reviewed the NYS Annual Report with the Board. The Board voted unanimously to approve the report.
Board Chair Dubitsky adjourned the meeting at 7:05 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board will be held on April 8, 2015.
