Minutes of Meeting
November 16, 2022
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on November 16, 2022, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Library Board Trustees John McGarr (JM) Celeste Sharpe (CS) and Linnet Tse (LT), Friends of Library Liaison David Dick (DD), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH) and Library Staff Assitant Janet Regan (JR). Library Board Trustees Barbara Flickinger, Barbara Liptack, Galit Lopatin Bordereau, Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Sabrina Fiddelman, and Village of Larchmont Liaison Dana Post were absent.
Board Chair Lauren Gottfried called the meeting to order at 6:48pm.
Minutes
The Board unanimously approved the minutes for the 10/12/22 Library Board Meeting.
Friends
DD reported on upcoming FOL events and plans for spring 2023. DD further reported that the FOL had approved a grant to the Library for $2,900 for the purchase of online access to the New York Times for Larchmont Library cardholders.
Committee Reports
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board unanimously approved the schedule of bills dated 11/16/22 and the additional list of bills dated 11/16/22.
Building and Grounds
LE reported on building repairs related to the sewer line repairs on the lower level, elevator lighting in the main library, the Children’s Room automatic door opener and misc. HVAC repairs. LE further reported that Saint Augustine’s has installed new outdoor lighting to illuminate the staff parking lot.
Director’s Report
LE reported on recent and upcoming programs at the Library including both a Babysitting course and Home Alone program for older children, Fashion upcycling and Gingerbread House decoration for Teens and the new chromebook and hotspot lending program available in the adult department. LE further reported that new bean bag seating, funded by the Friends of the Library, have arrived and that the holiday lights on the exterior of the building will be put up next week.
Additional Items
Following discussion the Board voted unanimously to approve a Library Workplace Violence Prevention Program and Policy. Following discussion the Library Board voted to approve the purchase of online access to the New York Times for Larchmont Library cardholders at an annual cost of $2,900.
