Starting July 1, all you have to do to access the journal and magazine articles in most of the databases provided by New York State is be in New York State. That’s right, no more fumbling through typing all 14 digits of your library card. If the databases’ computer thinks you are within the Empire State, you can access the databases. At the same time, the State has added some new sources, including one that has the Journal News.
However, this Geolocation does not work for databases purchased by either the Westchester Library System or the Larchmont Public Library. Nor does it apply to database providers other than Gale Cengage Learning.
We will be switching over to the new system over the next few days, so be alert for changes. If you are outside of New York, then you can use your New York State driver’s license to log in.
