Research Leads to Historical Marker

Earlier this week, the Girl Scouts of Larchmont Mamaroneck had a special dedication ceremony for their beloved Girl Scout House. With the incredible research done by Pat Allen, their service unit manager, the Girl Scout House has been named a historical landmark by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. I’m sure you’re asking, what does this have to do with the library? Pat came to us during her search

and we were able to find articles from the 1920s in our digitized collection of the Larchmont Times. These primary source articles, among others Pat found, proved to be critical in the approval of the Girl Scout House as a historical landmark. Did you know, the Girl Scout House used to be a train station?

If you are in need of researching assistance, local history information, or just want to learn more about what life was like in Larchmont back in the day, the Larchmont Library is here for you!
