Minutes of Meeting

April 12, 2023

The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on April 12, 2023, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Library Trustees Galit Lopatin Bordereau (GLB), Jill Brennick (JB), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Barbara Liptack (BL) and Linnet Tse (LT), Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Abby Katz, Village of Larchmont Liaison Dana Post (DP), Friends of Library President Melisa Prevost (MP), WLS Board Representative Maureen LeBlanc (ML), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH) and Library Staff Assistant Janet Regan (JR). Library Trustee Celeste Sharpe (CS) was absent.

Board Chair Lauren Gottfried called the meeting to order at 6:45pm.

LG welcomed the Library’s WLS Board Representative ML and thanked her for her ongoing work serving the Library.

Minutes

The Board unanimously approved the minutes for the 4/12/23 Library Board Meeting.

Friends

MP reported on upcoming FOL programming including the upcoming Spelling Bee and an author visit in May. LG thanked the FOL for their dedication to the Library.

Committee Reports

Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board unanimously approved the schedule of bills dated 4/12/23 and the additional list of bills dated 4/12/23.

LT presented an overview of the Library’s financial oversight including policies and procedures.

Building and Grounds

LE reported that furniture for the Staff Assistant Office was delivered and installed.

Director’s Report

On the recommendation of LE, the Board unanimously approved the hire of Veronica Berger as a Librarain I with a salary of $62,442 effective 4/17/23. LE reported on a new overlay to the WLS online catalog which will go live on May 1st. LE further reported that repairs were made to exterior benches and walkways, new items were installed in Ryder’s Garden and annual spring cleaning throughout the Library is underway. LE further reported on the success of CURE’s recent “5 Towns, One Book” community read and an upcoming book group for young readers sponsored by “The Week Jr”.

Additional Items

Following discussion the Board unanimously approved a new Conflict of Interest Policy and amendments to the Library’s Gift and Naming Policy and the Orseman Gallery Policy.

LE reviewed committee assignments for the Library’s upcoming Long Range Strategic Plan.

Meeting adjourned at 7:59pm. The next scheduled Board Meeting will be held on May 10, 2023 at 6:45pm.
