March 13, 2024

The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on March 13, 2024, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Library Trustees Galit Lopatin Bordereau (GLB), Jill Brennick (JB), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Barbara Liptack (BL), Celeste Sharpe (CS) and Linnet Tse (LT), Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Sabrina Fiddelman (SF), Village of Larchmont Liaison Dana Post (DP), Friends of Larchmont Library Liaison Ellie Berlin (EB), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), and Library Staff Assistant Janet Regan (JR).

Library Board Chair LG called the meeting to order at 6:35pm.

Minutes

The Board unanimously approved the minutes for the 2/12/23 Library Board Meeting.

Friends

EB reported on the FOL’s upcoming programs including a Trivia Night and several Sunday speakers. LG thanked the FOL for their excellent programing and support of the Library.

Committee Reports

Finance

Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board unanimously approved the schedule of bills and the additional lists of bills dated 3/13/24.

Facilities

Following discussion the Board unanimously approved proposals from Naber Electric for new  LED Lighting for the Upper Level Fiction Room and the Main Floor Reference Office.

Director’s Report

LE reported on the success of recent programs including ESL classes for adults, events related to the Library’s new Seed Library and Life Size Candyland for kids during the February school break. LE further reported that online usage for the NYT’s has increased by nearly 70% since the addition of Cooking, Games and Sports to the online subscription in January. LE updated the Board on new online resources from WLS including Medici TV, Mango Languages and The Shelf and outlined the Library’s plan to publicize these new services. LE reported on upcoming programs including the addition of a new pass to Stone Barns Agricultural Center in Tarrytown for the Library’s Museum Pass Program, a poetry writing series in April for Poetry Month, and a Scam Prevention Program presented by the LPD.

Additional Items

The Board voted unanimously to approve the Library’s NYS report for FY22/23. The Board thanked Reference Librarian PD his work organizing and completing many of the statistics.

Meeting adjourned at 7:15pm. The next scheduled Board Meeting will be held on 3/13/24 at 6:30pm.
