Minutes of Meeting
April 10, 2019
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on April 10, 2019, attended by Library Board Chair Pamela Dubitsky (PD), Board Trustees Jennifer Conley (JC), Barbara Flickinger (BF), John McGarr (JM), and Linnet Tse (LT), Friends of the Library Liaison Sophia Bernstein (SB), Village of Larchmont Liaison Sarah Bauer (SB), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), and Library Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH). Board Trustees Lauren Gottfried, Barbara Liptack and Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Jeffery King were absent.
Board Chair Pamela Dubitsky (PD) called the meeting to order at 6:50 p.m.
Board Meeting Minutes
The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Minutes of the Board Meeting of March 13, 2019.
Friends of the Larchmont Public Library Liaison Report
SB reported on the remaining programs and events the Friends will be hosting throughout the spring of 2019. SB further reported that the Annual Spelling Bee was a success with 16 teams and 150 attendees. The returning champions were The Spell Binders. SB announced that the Friends Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 14th in the Village Center.
Committee Reports
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board reviewed and unanimously approved the Schedule of Bills dated 4/5/19 & 4/10/19. The Board reviewed and approved the Performance Report dated 4/5/19.
Building and Grounds
LE reported that Atlantic Westchester completed the installation of two new condenser units at the rear of the Library.
PD announced that she and LE would meet with VOL Mayor Walsh to discuss the VC Agreement which expires on 5/31/19.
Directors Report
LE reported on the new ILS (Integrated Library Sytem) provided by WLS, which runs the Library’s catalog and circulation systems, noting issues that occurred during the migration and reporting on actions taken by staff to resolve problems and educate patrons about the new system. LE further reported that a 5 session Abstract Art Program, funded by a WLS mini grant, is underway and will culminate in an art reception.
The Board voted unanimously to enter into Executive Session to discuss personnel issues at 7:50 p.m. The Board voted unanimously to exit Executive Session at 9:05p.m.
Board Chair Dubitsky (PD) adjourned the meeting at 9:10 p.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board will be held on May 8, 2019.
