Finding the right gift can be stressful. Nothing is better than a book, obviously, but which book? To aid your decision the Board of the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library created an extensive list of suggestions for all ages. The list contains 18 Adult tiles suggested by individual Board members and 12 Young Adult and Children’s books suggested by Barbara Mehlman, a Board member who also happens to be a school library media specialist. The Friends do way more than make gift suggestions, however. Funding from the Friends underwrites
our Museum Pass program, makes a significant dent in our ever increasing eBook budget, helps provide faster wifi, and helps defray the costs of the Library’s programming. The Friends have paid for new furniture and free New York Times for all cardholders. the list goes on and on.
The Friends are no slouches when it comes to their own programming, too. Programs in the past year include County Executive George Latimer discussing flooding in Westchester the day after a significant storm. How the Friends arranged that, no one knows. Author David Grann is a frequent visitor, recently discussing his newest bestseller, The Wager, as well as concerts and the ever-popular Spelling Bee.
If you would like to help the Friends continue to support the library, you can do so via their website.
