Minutes of Meeting
February 9, 2022
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on February 9, 2022, attended by Board Trustees Galit Lopatin Bordereau (GLB), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Barbara Liptack (BL), John McGarr (JM), Celeste Sharpe (CS), Linnet Tse (LT), Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Sabrina Fiddelman (SF), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), and Library Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH). Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Village of Larchmont Liaison Dana Post (DP) and Friends of the Library Liaison Jennifer Rabina (JR) were absent.
Board Trustee Linnet Tse called the meeting to order at 6:46pm.
LT welcomed new TOM Liaison SB and thanked former TOM Liason Jeffery King for his past service.
The Board unanimously approved the minutes for the 1/12/22 Library Board Meeting.
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board unanimously approved lists of bills dated 2/8/22 and 2/9/22. LE reminded the Board of the Library Budget Presentation to VOL on 2/15/22 and to TOM on 3/2/22.
Building and Grounds
LE gave an update on the Library’s Lower Level, reporting end panels had been selected and ordered, that all work is completed except for shelving installation and minor HVAC repair work. LE further reported that partial reimbursement from the Library’s insurance provider has been received. LE reported that a small leak from the roof in the main building was being repaired under warranty.
At the recommendation of LE the Library Board unanimously approved the hire of Library Staff Assistant Janet Regan effective 3/14/22 at an annual rate of $66,834. LE reported on recent Library programs including the Children’s Librarians virtual “Winter Blues Tour” with the Mamaroneck School District, the Teen Advisory Boards “Love Your Library” campaign in honor of Valentine’s Day and the adult department’s “Blind Date with a Book Display” also in honor of Valentine’s Day. LE further reported on upcoming programs including Bird Watching 101, Crayon Recycling and a series of book discussions with CURE and 4 other Sound Shore Libraries focusing on “The Sum of Us” by Heather McGhee. LE updated the Board on the status of Library services, the search for a new full time Library Clerk and the website update.
LE reported that work has begun on the review of the Library’s Internet and Privacy Polices.
CS reported that her book, “Writing a Second Chance Love Story” was recently published and was congratulated by all.
The Board voted unanimously to enter Executive Session to discuss a matter pertaining to collective bargaining at 7:32pm. The Board voted unanimously to exit Executive Session at 7:41pm.
