Minutes of Meeting
January 12, 2022
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met on January 12, 2022, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Board Trustees Galit Lopatin Bordereau (GLB), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Barbara Liptack (BL), John McGarr (JM), Celeste Sharpe (CS), Linnet Tse (LT), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), Library Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH) and Friends of the Library Liaison Jennifer Rabina (JR). Trustees Village of Larchmont Liaison Dana Post (DP) and Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Sabrina Fiddelman (SF) were absent.
Board Chair Lauren Gottfried called the meeting to order at 6:45pm
Minutes
The Board unanimously approved the minutes for a Library Board Meeting on 11/10/21 and a Special Library Board Meeting on 12/17/21.
Friends
JR updated the Board on upcoming FOL programs. JR reported that the FOL’s ebook and periodical fundraiser resulted in $9,133 in donations to the Library. JR further reported that the FOL approved an additional $2,250 in programming support for twice weekly Children’s Concerts in February and March.
Committee Reports
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: The Board unanimously approved lists of bills dated 1/11/22 and 1/12/22.
LE reported that a bequest of $5,000 was received from the estate of former Library Staff Member Libby Landman. LE further reported that a New York State Humanities Grant was awarded to cover 50% of the costs of the Library’s spring 2022 book discussion series and thanked June Hesler for her efforts in once again securing the grant.
Building and Grounds
LE gave an update on the Library’s Lower Level, reporting that work is nearly completed, shelving and furniture is scheduled for delivery and and installation in March and that initial insurance payments have been received.
Director’s Report
At the recommendation of LE the Library Board unanimously approved the hire of part time Library Clerk Matthew Irvine effective 1/31/22 at an hourly rate of $19 an hour. LE updated the Board on current Library services. LE reported that due to staff shortages the Library has operated under reduced hours since 1/3/22 and will restore normal hours on 1/15/22. LE further reported that in person programs would be restored on 2/1/22.
Additional Items
After discussion, the Library Board unanimously approved amendments to the Library’s Collection Development Policy. LG thanked CS, GLB and BF for assisting with updating the policy.
