Ms Cannavò’s favorite thing to do when she isn’t working is read and her favorite book is The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, a frequently banned book. Ms Cannavò was surprised to hear that her other favorites, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood have also been challenged! Ms Cannavò believes that “when you ban books, you ban knowledge” and hopes her students will continue to read freely!
