Interlibrary Loan

Have you ever searched for a book in the Westchester Library System catalog and come up empty handed? Don’t give up! There is still a possibility we can get that book for you. We offer a service called Interlibrary Loan where we can order titles that are located outside of the Westchester Library System. We can also retrieve articles for you this way as well. Let us know the publication title, author, titles of articles, pages, and any other information you have. Fill out this form, ILL Book Request Form – Westchester Library System and an email will be sent directly to the reference librarians about your request.

We will submit the book title to WLS headquarters, and they will take it from there. If for any reason they cannot fill the request, we will let you know right away. Some other things that are different about a regular hold and an ILL hold is that it takes a bit longer to get here. Libraries from all around the country participate so you could end up getting a copy from a library in California. Another difference is that a reference librarian will call you when the book arrives. We will hold it behind the information desk and not on the holds shelf. Don’t get discouraged if the book you are looking for is not found in the Westchester Library System catalog because we can always try an ILL!
