Hoopla Borrowing Issue

We are aware that patrons have been experiencing issues with Hoopla since the number of check outs was reduced earlier this month. The change that the Westchester Library System implemented includes a daily checkout limit of 333 for the entire county. The daily limit resets at midnight and because of the small number, the check outs reach the max very quickly. We understand your frustration when trying to borrow a title. The Westchester Library System is aware of the issue, and we are looking into other options to make Hoopla more accessible.Read More Read More

Changes in Digital Resources

Changes in Digital Resources

There are some changes in two of our digital resources. Starting February 1st, patrons will only be able to check out 3 titles on Hoopla per month. The streaming service Kanopy will have reduced monthly tickets as well. Instead of 30 tickets per month, patrons will now have 5 tickets per month.Read More Read More

The Westchester Library System has a new online resource for all patrons. This guide from the Westchester Library System (WLS) includes a select list of resources and recommended strategies that can help you when researching a health topic, evaluating and managing service options, and finding assistance. The original guide was funded by the National Library of Medicine in 2017 and WLS Outreach has made updates since. Upcoming Program Highlights

It’s November already and we have some great upcoming programs to highlight. Yoga and Chair Yoga have returned on Fridays in the Village Center. November 18th there is a program called Herald in the Holidays with Less Stress. We will also have Chris McCormack returning for a program about Exploring Our Colorful World on the 20th. Don’t forget about our Notary Services that are starting this month too! They will be offered on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Adult Summer Reading Game has Ended

The Adult Summer Reading game has officially ended, and the winners have been notified. Thank you to everyone who participated, it was a great turnout! We had over 20 participants with over 250 entries. That’s a lot of reading! We hope you come back next summer and play again. Some of the most popular titles were, Notes on an Execution, Lessons in Chemistry, and Between the World and Me. Some of the most popular authors included Lisa Jewell and Ray Bradbury. Many Colors of Books Bingo Game

There is still plenty of time to sign up for the Adult Summer Reading Game this year. To join the Many Colors of Books Bingo, grab a packet at the Information desk along with a Bingo board. All you have to do is read a book in one of the color categories. There are nine colors: Red, Orange, Yellow/Gold, Green, Blue, Purple, White, Black, and Brown. Books that have that color cover, have that color in the title, or have that color in the name of the author count towards that category.Read More Read More

We Now Have Laptop Chargers!

We Now Have Laptop Chargers!

After a lot of suggestions from patrons, we finally have four laptop chargers that can be used within the library. We have purchased two chargers for Chrome books and two Mac chargers. If you are looking to borrow a charger, please visit the Information Desk. We will ask that you give us your library card, ID, car keys, or anything else as collateral until you return the chargers when you are finished using them. The new chargers are in addition to the phone chargers we already have available for in-library use.Read More Read More
