We will start getting deliveries from other libraries in the County next week. We expect this will unleash a deluge of long delayed holds (both incoming and outgoing) and returns. Other libraries who have already begun deliveries found this to be the case. We believe we have a good system in place to handle this, but you, our patrons, can help lighten the initial load. Starting July 7, patrons can make an appointment to browse the Adult and Teen sections of the Library. Half hour appointments are available weekday afternoons beginning at 1pm and ending at 3pm. Please read how it works on the Browsing Appointments FAQ. Then go to Things to Do menu above to make your appointment. Some important things to know are:
All Library materials checked out prior to June 1 were renewed through June 30th. As such, we have 5,000 items that are due TODAY, July 1st! It is fitting, therefore, to explain how we are handling returns going forward.
Starting next Monday, June 29, we will stop answering calls at (914) 734-5362. Instead of that number’s limited hours, we will have 9-5 coverage (9-1 on Saturdays) at the old Reference number, 834-2281 x. 3 and the Children’s Room will be answering extension 4. We’ve added some services. We’ve added Saturday morning curbside pickups to our roster of available times. Now we have a librarian in the building answering 834-2281 x. 3. from 9 – 5 weekdays and 9-1 Saturdays. That means we can help with curbside and we can set aside items for non-Larchmont cardholders for curbside pickup if the items are on the shelf. We are getting ready to start curbside pickup. You must make an appointment to pick up your hold. To start, we will have appointments only on weekdays during the day. More on that later. First, there are some things you can do to get ready too.
We are ramping up the restoration of limited onsite services. You can help us prioritize our future efforts (and also give us feedback on how we did in the past) by filling out our survey. There are no required questions, so it shouldn’t take too long. However, if you haven’t yet filled out the mandatory and most important survey, the 2020 Census, do that first.
