Limited Browsing

Limited Browsing

Limited Browsing is now available Monday through Saturday 1-4:30 pm. This means masked, socially distanced patrons can wander through our stacks to look for something to read, to watch or to listen. You can also check out holds. Browsing for the Adult/Teen rooms does not require an appointment. Patrons may walk-in Monday-Saturday 1pm-4:30pm. Appointments are still suggested for the Children’s Room. Although appointments are not mandatory, they will guarantee admittance at your chosen time. If you haven’t used Browsing before, we suggest you look at the FAQ. Public computers, seating and study spaces are not available at this time.Read More Read More

Noted with sorrow

William T. Dentzer, Jr., Former Chair of the Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees died late last month at the age of 91. While his service at the library was but the smallest blip in this kind, gentle, gentleman’s fully packed life, it was a huge thing for us, and therefore the community he loved. If you didn’t know the man, read the obituary posted by Fox Funeral Home or the Wall Street Journal. He will be missed.Read More Read More

Forms and Printing at the Library

Forms and Printing at the Library

Right about now people start making their annual pilgrimage to the Library in search of tax forms. Tax forms will be discussed later in this post, but first a word about printing in general. We understand that many people rely on Library computers to print out things they need for their life such as DMV forms and the like. The fact that our building is closed does not mean we can’t still help you. We will print what you need and you can get it using Curbside Pickup. Here’s what you do: Read More Read More

Weather Affects Curbside

Weather Affects Curbside

The dire predictions for the middle of this week have forced the following changes:

  • Wednesday’s Curbside has been moved from the afternoon to two hours in the morning, 10am to noon.
  • Thursday’s Curbside is cancelled.
  • The date to pick up items already here is extended through Saturday.
  • Patrons who have already made appointments will be contacted with their options.

This seems like a propitious time to explain how we will try to handle Curbside when the weather gets bad. There are twoRead More Read More

Library Closed Until Nov. 30

The Library is closed as staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus. We expect to return with limited services on Monday 11/30 after deep cleaning of the building and staff testing is completed. Curbside will resume. However, we are pausing onsite browsing until further notice to address the rising viral infection rates as well as the higher potential for infection during the upcoming indoor/holiday season.

  • No return bins will be put out until Monday 11/30. Please hold on to your materials, we will extend due dates and are all materials are currently fine free.

Winter is Coming

Winter is Coming

We think our current system works well, even in warm summer rains, but sleet and snow are another matter. Help us plan how we will handle Curbside Pickup when the weather gets bad by completing a four question survey.Read More Read More

We are raising the roof!

We are raising the roof!

And then putting down a brand new one over our Children’s Room. This means we will be closed starting Sunday, Oct. 4. We anticipate resuming our current schedule on Tuesday, October 13th. There are a lot of things to explain so let’s get started:

  • We’ve scheduled extra curbside pickup sessions on Friday and Saturday mornings so you can get your books before we close. There will be no curbside sessions during the closure.
  • Browsing sessions are unchanged leading up to the closure, but sessions are usually underbooked and walk-ins are welcome.

A note about voting forms

A note about voting forms

We’ve been putting absentee ballot applications and voter registration forms in front of the library over the past few weeks. We will not be able to do so during construction. The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 3 General Election is Oct. 9, 2020. If you mail in your registration, it must be postmarked by that day (and received by the Board of Elections by Oct. 14). You can register in person as well. If you miss getting one of the forms we put out, don’t worry.Read More Read More

Some of Our Museum Passes are Back!

Some of Our Museum Passes are Back!

We have good news! Our ever-popular Museum Pass Program is springing back into action after a long hiatus. We know that our patrons have sincerely missed this invaluable resource which is so generously funded each year by the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library. As many museums in our area have started to reopen, and we know you’re eager to get out of the house, please keep in mind that things are running a bit ‘differently’ at the moment.
