October 14, 2020
The Larchmont Public Library Board of Trustees met via zoom on October 14, 2020, attended by Library Board Chair Lauren Gottfried (LG), Board Trustees Galit Lopatin Bordereau (GLB), Barbara Flickinger (BF), Barbara Liptack (BL), John McGarr (JM), and Celeste Sharpe (CS), Village of Larchmont Liaison Sarah Bauer (SB), Town of Mamaroneck Liaison Jeff King (JK), Friends of Larchmont Library Liaison Jennifer Rabina (JR), Library Director Laura Eckley (LE), Head of Reference Liam Hegarty (LH), and Staff Assistant DJ Brucianni (DJB). Board Trustee Linnet Tse (LT) was absent.
Board Chair Lauren Gottfried called the meeting to order at 6:47pm
Committee Reports
Schedule of Bills and Performance Report: Upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee the Board unanimously approved the Schedule of Bills and the Additional List of Bills dated 10/12/20 and 10/13/20. LG informed the Board that the Finance Committee had begun the budgeting process for FY21/22.
Building and Grounds
LE provided an update on the Library’s 2020 Roof project stating that the closure of the building went well, the abatement was completed quickly and the majority of the roof material has now been installed. LE stated that a pre bid meeting for the Library’s BMS and FCU Project was held and a schedule has been set for the project bidding process.
Director’s Report
LE updated the Board on the operations of the Library and creative outdoor programming including weekly story times and a winter Storywalk in Constitution Park, daffodil planting in Ryder’s Garden, and a Teen programming featuring candy tube slides for Trick or Treat. LE further reported that the Library’s wireless equipment will be upgraded this winter to be faster and also more widespread outdoors on the Library lawn. LE reviewed current services with the Board and discussed the increased spending on downloadable services to better serve our patrons during the pandemic.
Board Chair Gottfried adjourned the meeting at 7:17pm.
