Book & Puzzle Donations- A Reminder

Book & Puzzle Donations- A Reminder

We just wanted to remind our wonderful patrons (and everyone else!) that the Larchmont Library does not accept any book donations. We appreciate that you think of us when wanting to donate  but the library simply does not have the room to store excess books. There are a number of local spots to donate books, including some nearby public libraries such as New Rochelle and Mamaroneck.

The same goes for donating jigsaw puzzles- we do not have ample room to store excess puzzles. Each year, we hold two Puzzle Swaps, where people can come to drop off puzzles and pick up new ones.Read More Read More

FamilySearch-New Free Historical Records

FamilySearch-New Free Historical Records

Did you know that you can research your family’s history in the library?

Through the FamilySearch database in our Online Resource webpage you can search a huge archive of historical documents and make your own family tree. You can gain access through the library’s computers, make an account and start researching!

FamilySearch expanded its free online collections in June 2025, with more than 30 million new records from 8 countries. Some of the exciting new additions include 16 million Italian birth, marriage, and death records (civil registrations, 1804 to 1943), 5 million Brazil cemetery records (1799 to 2024), and nearly 1 million records from the American Medical Association (AMA) of deceased physicians (1864 to 1968). Read More Read More

The Elevator Will Be Out of Service Starting on Monday, July 21st

The elevator company has projected a six-week long repair, at which time our main elevator will be completely out of service. If you’d like to access the upper and lower levels of the library, you will have to use the stairs. We will have large carts available in the New Books Room (on your left when you enter through the front door) with a selection of books from adult fiction and adult non-fiction.  If you are unable to use the stairs, please alert a staff member and we will be more than happy to grab an item for you. Read More Read More

The Frick Museum Pass Has Arrived

The Frick Museum Pass Has Arrived

The Friends of the Larchmont Public Library have graciously allowed us to purchase a pass for the newly renovated (and re-opened) Frick Collection in Manhattan. As some of you might recall, the library had a pass for the Frick pre-Covid. The Frick underwent a huge renovation shortly thereafter so we have been without this pass for about four years!

Please book your pass online or give us a call at the Information Desk (914) 834-2281, ext. #3 and we can do it for you. The Frick pass comes with two membership cards, each good for one person to enter the museum for free.Read More Read More

We Now Have Laptop Chargers!

We Now Have Laptop Chargers!

After a lot of suggestions from patrons, we finally have four laptop chargers that can be used within the library. We have purchased two chargers for Chrome books and two Mac chargers. If you are looking to borrow a charger, please visit the Information Desk. We will ask that you give us your library card, ID, car keys, or anything else as collateral until you return the chargers when you are finished using them. The new chargers are in addition to the phone chargers we already have available for in-library use.Read More Read More
