Larchmont Public Library Book Groups

Here is a list of all the public book groups that are offered here at the Larchmont Library. Click on the links for more information and for past book selections. You can find the dates for upcoming meetings on our Events Calendar.

Frank Conversations

Join retired Larchmont Librarian, Frank Connolly, in this discussion focused on stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the World’s greatest sleuth: Sherlock Holmes. This book group is on Zoom only and meets on the first Monday of every month.

Gottesfeld

Retired Mamaroneck High School english teacher, Illeen Gottesfeld leads the discussion of books chosen by her on a variety of topics dealing with women’s issues.  This group usually meets around 7 times a year, 3 times in the fall and 4 times in the spring.

Kiss and Tell

What are romance novels, how did they change in the last decade, what is their audience and what purpose do they serve? This newly formed book group explores stories about love and people’s intimate relationships, in books that may or may not qualify as romance novels!

Literary Bites

This group discusses food, food-related books, and the joy of eating with loved ones! Participants are encouraged to find inspiration in the books and can optionally bring their culinary endeavors for the group to taste!

Movie Discussion

Skip the Book, Watch a Movie!  Watch a movie that’s on one of the library’s free streaming services Hoopla or Kanopy.  Then join librarian Paul Doherty for a discussion on a Monday at 10 am.  You might be wondering how we choose the movies?  You vote!  A few times a year a list of movies will be sent out for group members to vote.

Once Upon a Crime

Once Upon a Crime book group discusses….what else? Crime! This is a nonfiction book group led by Librarian Caroline Cunningham. We read books about true crimes throughout history ranging from murder to financial fraud, to art heists. This book group meets the first Thursday of each month in the Village Center at 7pm. You can also join this book group on Zoom.

Short and Sweet

Short & Sweet, hosted by our librarian Alex, meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10AM. Our group meets ‘hybrid,’ in person and on Zoom. Our one rule (which can bend slightly) is that the group does not read any books over 250 pages. We keep things short!
