“The Gratitude Project”: Paintings and Poetry of the Poets Laureate by Hilda Demsky

Now Open until December 27th! Hilda Demsky has been a Larchmont artist for 50 years. She is a member of Mamaroneck Artists Guild, have given workshops and is very involved in the Larchmont community. On Thanksgiving 2020, The New York Times invited poets’ laureate of the United States to submit, in 100 words or less, “what the people in their States would be thankful for” after the difficult year of COVID 19. Local drug store employee Michelina Carbone loves to read and remembers reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain when she was in high school. She was surprised to hear that, since 1885, the novel is regularly challenged for racial slurs, rough language, and its depiction of slavery. Michelina believes that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an important book that should continue to be read by high school students.Read More Read More

“Nordic Jungle Tales” Paper-cutting works by Sine Hjort

Now open until October 30th. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark 1961 and educated at the Royal Danish Design school for drawing and graphics. Sine Hjort became active in the alternative rock scene and ultimately came to New York to work as a musician. Now a resident of Croton on Hudson for the last 13 years, Sine is focused on paper art, Painting and teaching. There will be an adjoining program on Thursday, October 12th at 7:00pm. Details here.

Thanks to the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library, we are happy to offer our patrons a new pass to the Greenburgh Nature Center. Located in Scarsdale, the Nature Center has been a leader in environmental education since 1975. The 33-acre property includes a woodland preserve with hiking trails, pond, organic garden, Nature Discovery playground, native plant meadow and over 100 animals.

Hello digital library users! The Overdrive app will officially be discontinued and users will be asked to transition over to the Libby app starting May 1st. Although you will no longer be able to use Overdrive to download ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, Libby will have all the same content that Overdrive had and will be able to serve all your digital library needs. For Kindle Fire users, you will still be able to use Overdrive as Amazon has not accepted the submission for the Libby app to be available in the Amazon Appstore as of yet.Read More Read More
