Research Leads to Historical Marker

Research Leads to Historical Marker

Earlier this week, the Girl Scouts of Larchmont Mamaroneck had a special dedication ceremony for their beloved Girl Scout House. With the incredible research done by Pat Allen, their service unit manager, the Girl Scout House has been named a historical landmark by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. I’m sure you’re asking, what does this have to do with the library? Pat came to us during her search Read More Read More

Fall Book Preview

Fall Book Preview

Our librarians, Caroline and Alex, hosted a Fall Book Preview earlier this week at the library. Fall is the perfect time to grab a cup of tea (and maybe an apple cider donut from the Larchmont Farmer’s Market) and relax under the covers with a good book. Lucky for you, the new season brings with it an abundance of new books ranging from the Barefoot Contessa’s much anticipated memoir to a historical fiction novel about the making of Veuve Clicquot champagne and a new title from Paula Hawkins. National Library Week- The Inner Workings of the LPL Part V

To check out items, you need to bring your library card. There are two ways you can do this. One is using a physical card and the other is using a digital card. There is an app you can download called the Westchester Library System where you can add your card digitally. Most of the time everyone has their phones so this is a great alternative if you forgot your physical card at home. If you don’t have your card or the app, we can use a photo ID to check items out to you but the preferred method is of course your library card.Read More Read More

There are a few ways to get items from the library if they aren’t available right away. What you can do is place a hold. To place a hold on a library item, you can do it online through the catalog or give us a call at the reference desk at 914-834-2281. To login to our catalog, start with going to our website, www.larchmontlibrary.org. There is a “catalog & your account” icon to click right on the front page. There is a “sign in” button you can click on the upper right next to the “hamburger menu” which looks like three horizontal lines.Read More Read More

Most of our books are ordered through Baker & Taylor. When these books arrive, our library staff David R., George C., Laura P., Linnea M. or Veronica B. empty the box and make sure everything that is in the box is on the packing slip. The staff member then enters the invoice number of the packing slip into the computer to let the computer know that the order arrived.Read More Read More

Recycle your Solar Eclipse Glasses

Recycle your Solar Eclipse Glasses

The Solar Eclipse is over so now what do you do with your pair of glasses? Recycle them of course! There are a few organizations that will take them off your hands. Check out Astronomers Without Borders. They will have a list of places you can donate your glasses to. Some of the places are donating the glasses to other countries that have upcoming eclipse events. Warby Parker is collecting used solar eclipse glasses as well. There is one located in the Westchester Mall in White Plains.Read More Read More
